About the position

This position is responsible for supporting Goodyear’s business needs by using department tools & processes to provide support to department engineers. The type of support is technical in nature, but does not require an engineering bachelors degree. This position does the work as an Engineering Technician, but at a higher level with little direction or supervision.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Support Intelligent Tire Information Systems projects for lab & road testing
  • Prepare vehicles (especially trucks) and tires with test systems including the configuration
  • Acquire data during tests (e.g. via CAN and FlexRay)
  • Troubleshoot issues during testing campaigns (also at customer site)
  • Maintenance, upgrade and repair of test hard-/software 
  • Close cooperation with our Intelligent Tire Project Team
  • Fabricate and test prototype. Follow up with additional system level testing. Test and acquire data
  • Contribute to a safe working environment, comply with all safety requirements and instructions
  • Contribute to continuous improvement activities
  • Support other projects and activities if needed

Required Education and Experience

  • Technical Associate Degree required
  • 3 or more years Technician in mechatronics/electrics/electronic or similar fields experience
  • Proven work experience in the field of testing and/or vehicle diagnosis systems 

Skills and Abilities 

  • Practical experience in wiring, test hardware installation, system set-up and configuration 
  • Background in automotive electronic systems (e.g. Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems) is an asset
  • Computer skills
  • Able to work independently as well as in a team
  • Motivated, engaged, communicative and willing to learn new things
  • Practical mindset and hand-on mentality
  • Willing to travel
