Production Planner

San Luis Potosí – México

Primary Purpose of the Position

  • Execute the day to day planning process for the pacer panning and/or WIP buffer management, based on production planning requirements                             
  • Tracks performance to target KPI's and drives root cause analysis for continuous improvement                                                     
  • Ensure that the inventory and production information used for flow and pull signals are correctly reflected in manufacturing systems (physical = system). Drive integrity and accuracy of production master data                                   
  • Supports the business priorities as established through the Process Flow Specialist                                                       

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with Process Flow Specialists and formulate production plans in support of area pacer. Sets accurate Kanban settings the plant floor associates can use to manufacture needed product. Highlight potential shortages impact and if necessary escalate               
  • Manage and plan supply changes with the required functions for execution of new product/materials development and industrialization                   
  • Monitor and account for inventory buffers, ensuring data integrity in manufacturing execution systems. Drive accuracy of production related master data in plant systems      
  • Maintain a high degree of process knowledge, machinery and constrains across the plant in order to be a production expert and provide accurate availability information      
  • Participate in high quality analysis of plant operations to identify improvement initiatives               
  • Participate in teaching and coaching shop floor associates on pull and flow process, promoting standard work within the facility


  • Knowledge and experience in Supply Chain, Operations Management, or related field.  Plant/manufacturing experience preferred.  


  • 2+ years experience in supply chain/planning field
  • Preferred experience/skills within a manufacturing environment
  • Production Scheduling and Monitoring System (PSMS), or similar system familiarity
  • Knowledge of elements that make up the plant material flow 
  • Knowledge of tire technology a plus
  • Continual learner as evidenced by the application of knowledge gained through additional education, experiences and/or training.
  • Experience in cross functional assignment or project work.


Knowledge & Skills

  • Understanding of product delivery systems, including traditional scheduling systems, Kanban systems, Sequencing Heijunka, Bus Route’s and Supermarket systems
  • Strong computer skills necessary for plant scheduling management
  • Possess strong communication, business, technical, analytical and planning skills
  • Ability to guide, mentor and train others
  • Ability to direct internal work groups to achieve goals and objectives with a strong ability to manage by influence within an organization to accomplish these goals
  • Demonstrated leadership and team building skills
