About the Position

Goodyear is seeking a creative, resourceful, and detail-oriented software engineer with an emphasis on embedded development, but with a keen interest on the entire software stack. The ideal candidate likes to tinker with hardware, and works with sensors & receivers & sees it as a life long experience to constantly learn and improve. The candidate also should have experience developing software products with well-coordinated team work. This position will work with electronics engineers, data scientists & suppliers to create winning solutions in the evolving mobility ecosystem.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with Product, Design and Engineering Teams to design, build and launch new product feature
  • Review, analyze and evaluate business/technical system requirements. Make recommendations as to how technologies can best be used to support the Business/Technical Strategies
  • Provide engineering insight and feedback to Designers and Product Managers. 
  •  Complete life-cycle testing (unit and integration).
  • Collaborate with 3rd party manufacturers of sensors & receivers to develop or customize firmware solutions

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science or releated field required
  • Masters degree in Computer Science or related field desired
  • 3 or more years of experience in Software Engineering/Development for IoT application
  • Experience in firmware/ embedded software/ mobile app development
  • Experience with WiFi, BLE, GPS and Celluar devices (plus)
  • Experience with protocols - CAN, J1939, SPI, I2C, USB, etc (plus)
  • Experience with AWS cloud technologies (plus)

Skills and Abilities

  • Software development and troubleshooting skills on embedded targets
  • Proficiency in C/C++ and Python
  • Background in RTOS and/or Linux
  • Proficiency in Java (plus)
  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills
